Social Media External Coordinator

Working closely with the Internal Coordinator of the Social Media Team, the External Coordinator represents the team in the wider XR UK organism. You will work closely with Media and Messaging's Internal and External Coordinators and liaise with the M&M subgroup coordinators. You will also be the face of Social Media throughout the movement, delegating and sharing tasks back to your IC and team mates.
The External Coordinator ensures information flows between the group and the movement's various circles and working groups. With the Internal Coordinator and wider Social Media team you will create outputs that incorporate movement-wide strategies, actions, global issues, developing news and scientific research, fundraising opportunities as well as working on content related to external campaign groups and organisations with potential for collaboration.

External Coordinator core duties:
- Developing and strategising social media output with the Internal Coordinator and the wider Social Media team.
- Help create content to promote upcoming events, actions, rebellions and other XR UK activities, as well as XR's demands, values and principles.
- Working closely with Fundraising team to help them with their efforts to raise money for the movement.
- Promoting XR's demands and Principles and Values.
- Together with the Internal Coordinator plan the agenda for the weekly Social Media meeting.
- Attend the weekly Social Media meeting.
- Attend the weekly Media & Messaging meeting on Monday mornings and make sure someone else from Social Media can attend when you are unavailable.
- Attend the weekly catch up with the M&M ICs and EC on Wednesdays to discuss strategy, plan ahead, decide on content.
- Through the External Coordinator of M&M, you will be put in contact with the teams that are going to need social media, and you will sit in the specific groups to ensure Social Media are up to date with plans and what content will need to be created. This would include actions, announcements (e.g. strategy updates or positions on a recent development in the movement or in the world), rebellions, and major UK-wide events such as high profile talks or workshops.
- Liaising closely with the Design Team in Creative Circle to ensure they are briefed to suitable deliver social media assets in a timely manner and/or work on designs collaboratively.
- Liaising closely with the Broadcast, Email and Website teams to align outputs and share information of upcoming actions/events/campaigns etc.
- Liaising closely with the Public Engagement Team to ensure their responses are in line with main M&M messaging.
- Keeping an eye on Social Media channels on Mattermost.

Please apply for the role on this platform, by the end of Thursday 03 April at the latest. The IC of Social Media will get in touch with you and send you the Zoom link for the meeting the next day. You will be asked to introduce yourself, explain why you would like to do the role and how you would like to do it, what you would bring to the team. You and the other candidates will then be put in a breakout room and the team will discuss your application. You will be told the results back in the main meeting.

Good interpersonal skills, approachability, organisational skills, team player, experience with social media for an organisation/company
Desired Skills
Background in media and/or social media, knowledge of XR as a movement.
Accessibility considerations
If you're hard of hearing (closed captions can be used during meetings) or visually impaired, then the online meeting aspect may be a barrier. You would need to be able to use a computer/keyboard.
